최근 초등학교 저학년까지 학교 폭력이 확산되며 저연령화 문제가 대두되고 있다. 단순 장난으로 치부되던 행동이 심각한 정신적 상처로 이어지는 사례가 늘고 있다.
전문가들은 스마트폰 사용 증가가 원인 중 하나라고 분석한다. 단체 채팅방을 통한 집단 따돌림, 온라인 악성 댓글 등은 피해 학생에게 지속적 스트레스를 준다. 그러나 교내 상담 인력은 충분하지 않다.
학교와 가정이 협력해 공감 교육, 감정 조절 교육을 강화해야 한다는 의견이 많다. 또한 가해 학생에 대한 처벌뿐 아니라 재발 방지 교육도 병행해야 한다는 지적이다.
학교 폭력은 단순한 갈등이 아니라 인권 문제다. 예방 중심 정책이 요구된다.
